The Coaching Style
Our Head Coach, Dash Lockley, is returning for his third season with the Heroes. Dash has created a winning culture in the locker room… and it shows on the field. We asked Dash some questions to learn what he does to prepare this team and what his plans are going forward.
Dash is chasing history this season: in his first two years with the Heroes, he has won back-to-back league titles. This feat has never been accomplished before and he has no plans of stopping anytime soon. When asked about his expectations for this upcoming season he said, “First, I’d obviously say that winning the league title is expected this year once again.” Coach Dash is back and has no plans of hitting the breaks. However, he has heard the criticism from the media, and he responds to football fans looking for tournament trophies. He addressed this by saying, “This year I am promising a playoff title to all the supporters who have waited for tournament glory.” A hefty promise for the young man, but surely one that will keep supporters on the edge of their seats all year.
Young Success
Speaking of his age, how has the prodigy earned so much success in his tenure with the Heroes? He began his first year with Hodgepodge at the age of 14 and is now an accomplished head coach at just 16 years old. When asked about how he has become so successful at such a young age, he responded with, “I think it’s pretty simple. Why write someone off who only wins? I don’t think that age matters when results speak for themselves. Before I became the Head Coach of the Heroes they won zero major trophies, but now, the Heroes have 2 league titles in 2 years of my reign.” Quite a confident response from Dash and he has backed it up with his record.
Dash has always prioritized building a strong, inclusive culture where every player, regardless of skill level, feels valued. His focus on both individual development and team success has been key to their growth. Reflecting on his legacy, he shared: “I hope to be remembered as a coach who built a strong culture where players felt valued no matter the level they were at. I also hope to be remembered as the greatest manager in club history known for a rigorous attacking style and the ability to make everyday joes into glorious champions through masterful leadership and immense knowledge.” These words embody his vision of not just winning games, but transforming players into champions.
